As part of the 28th International Festival of Children's Theaters Subotica, held from 19 to 24 September, organized by the Open University of Subotica, a rich accompanying program consists of the 12th International Forum for Research of Theater Art for Children, exhibitions, workshops and book promotions.

The International Forum for the Research of Theater Art for Children and Youth in Subotica is the largest theatrical gathering in this part of Europe and brings together theorists and theater researchers from 16 countries and three continents. A total of 30 participants in this important gathering for theatrical art will be mostly guests here in Subotica, and a smaller number of the participants will present their work online. The whole event will be held in new part of the City Library in Subotica.

During the festival, the exhibition of student posters will take place, too. It will present works of students from the third year at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade - Department of Applied Graphics and Illustration, in the class of Professor Rastko Ćirić. The exhibition dedicated to this year's laureates of the Little Prince Award will be focused to the work of Jovan Caran and Ludmila Konstantinova Hense. Exhibition of the Kragujevac Children's Theater will be held during the festival as well.

Workshop Various Masks for Theater Boards led by students and a professor from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, prepared for students of the Polytechnic School Subotica, aims to turn empty and neutral masks into imaginative characters from real or imagined theater performances. The creative workshop Happy Company with Sofija Simić for primary school students, focuses on a puppet as a prop and a mean of expression in the theater. Branka Rudman's puppet workshop is intended for pedagogues, and the emphasis is on communication as a key aspect of working with children.

The festival will promote books Puppet Simulacra by Dr. Zoran Đerić, the 14th issue of the magazine for puppetry NITI (publisher: Theater Museum of Vojvodina), publication 70 Years of Youth: Youth Theater Sarajevo by Dubravka Zrnčić-Kulenović, and collection of works The Theater for Children - an Artistic Phenomenon (book 11, publisher: Open University Subotica, International Children's Theater Festival Subotica, Theater Museum of Vojvodina).

We remind you that within the competition program of the 28th International Children's Theater Festival Subotica, there will be 12 plays for children from all over the world, chosen by the festival's programmer, Professor Dr. Zoran Đerić. The audience of the Festival will be able to see various and imaginative performances that come to Serbia from Bulgaria, Israel, Germany, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Russia, Croatia, Brazil, Slovakia, BiH (Republika Srpska) and Serbia.

All festival programs will be held in accordance with the measures against the Covid-19 virus pandemic, taking into account the safety of visitors and festival participants.

The International Children's Theater Festival Subotica is one of the most important festivals in the region, which, for more than a quarter of a century, brings together creators who have dedicated their work to the youngest. With a focus on puppetry but also with space for other art forms, the Festival continuously contributes to the promotion and development of theater in Serbia. For its outstanding contribution to the development of performing arts for children and culture in general, the Festival was awarded the Vuk Award in 2005, the greatest cultural recognition in the Republic of Serbia, while in 2009 the International Children's Theater Festival Subotica was awarded the Pro Urbe Award for significant contribution to the development and reputation of the city of Subotica by raising its material and spiritual values. The Festival is also the winner of the special International Award for Contribution to the Development of Drama Education Grozdanin Kikot in 2009, awarded by the Center for Drama Education Mostar (BiH Center IDEA (International Association for Drama / Theater and Education)).

The realization of the International Festival of Children's Theater Subotica was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, the Provincial Secretary for Culture of AP Vojvodina and the City of Subotica.
