On Friday, September 27 - the sixth day of the 31st International Festival of Children's Theatres Subotica - the audience will be able to watch the final theatrical play of the official competition program: A Sugar-Made Fairy Tale by Virovitica Theatre and City Theatre Joza Ivakić Vinkovci from Croatia (10 a.m. at Subotica national Theatre’s Jadran stage).
А Sugar-Made Fairy Tale is a story about a Red Riding Hood, a Granny and an unusual Wolf who loves children, but loves sweets and cakes even more. After all, who would want to eat Granny next to a chocolate cake? Through one of the most famous Brothers Grimm fairy tales, we tackle the importance of villains in fairy tales and their role story-wise. Can a Red Riding Hood even exist without the Big Bad Wolf? See for yourself in the puppet show A Sugar-Made Fairy Tale. The play is directed by Sara Lustig.
As part of the accompanying program, The Silver Tree - a short interactive play for infants –will be performed at the Danilo Kiš Foundation. The author of the play is Cliodhna Noonan from Ireland. This play poses the question "what will you choose for your life?" and presents very young babies with an opportunity, perhaps their first, to make a choice. It is based loosely on the idea of the Romanian Ursitoarea fairy. The workshop will have two performances – the first one for babes aged 0-36 months starting at 10 a.m. and the second one for children aged years 3-6, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
As part of the festival’s film program, Subotica’s Eurocinema will host a screening of an animated film Tony, Shelly and the Magic Light at 11 a.m.
The official closing ceremony of the Festival begins at 7 p.m. at Subotica Children's Theater where the festival prizes will be awarded and their winners announced.
Admission to all festival events is free. The detailed program is available online at: https://www.lutfestsubotica.net/
