31st International Festival of Children's Theatres Subotica Program for Thursday, September 26

On Thursday, September 26 - the fifth day of the 31st International Festival of Children's Theatres Subotica - the audience will be able to watch two theatrical plays as part of the official competition program: Little Red Riding Hood from Republika Srpska (10 a.m. at Subotica national Theatre’s Jadran stage) and Don’t Wait for Me from France (12 p.m. at Subotica Children’s Theatre).

Children’s Theatre of Republika Srpska will perform Little Red Riding Hood (based on the fairy-tale by brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault, written and directed by Ljudmila Fedorova). This popular fairy tale has delighted generations of children. It’s also the most popular hat and the most popular girl among hats and girls. In this re-telling of the story, everything is the same and yet everything is different. Grandma is sick, Little Red Riding Hood will go to visit and a wolf will arrive. But how did it all begin and how will it end will be determined by the vivid imagination of director Ludmila Fedorova using amazing puppets and fantastic characters through which the hearts of our actors are beating.

French theatre Compagnie La neigesur les cils will perform Don’t Wait for Me… (written and directed by Vera Rozanova). The play takes its young audience on a journey into a dreamlike world where houses have legs, wings or sails to hoist on trips every night. But one day, a house leaves without its tenant... And so begins a quest that combines hand puppets and cartoons in a poetic and humorous universe, in search of the lost house.

At Hotel Patria, a promo event for the book Magic Stone and Other Fairy-Tales by Davor Dragojević, issue 18-19 of the magazine Threads and Vol.14 of The Theatre for Children - an Artistic Phenomenon anthology will take place at 4 p.m.

As part of the festival’s film program, Subotica’s Eurocinema will host a screening of a Norwegian film Dancing Queen at 11 a.m.

Admission to all festival events is free.
